JESSE JACKSON TAKES THE SIDE OF LIFE (for a change)
jackson>schiavo>jesse jackson>schiavo>jesse
Today Jesse Jackson stepped forward and took the side of Life, when he stood up for Terri, saying "I feel so passionate about this injustice being done, how unnecessary it is to deny her a feeding tube, water, not even ice to be used for her parched lips." He also said, "This is a moral issue and it transcends politics and family disputes."
Many Conservative Christians wonder, 'why the switch?' We know Jesse has been the biggest supporter of murdering the voiceless ( Unborn). So why the change? Why support this "Right to Life"case, and not others? Some have speculated that he is trying to save the Democratic party by helping to swing the perception of the party over to the right side. Although, only acting late enough to insure that the woman is all but dead. This way they can allow the Pro Death precedent to be set and save face too. I am, however, not quite ready to kick 'ol Jesse when he is finally on the correct side. He will surely give us plenty reason to kick him later.
It is thought that he can help to sway the needed 3 Democrats in the Florida Senate and get them to revote during their new session tomorrow (3-30-05).
If that's the case, I say, ' great.' I however have lost all but a fraction of hope that this will happen soon enough for Terri. She is now entering her 13th day without food and water. I wonder if fatal damage has occurred. We know that prolonged dehydration can cause irreparable damage to the Kidneys and Brain as well as all other organs.
It is so sad to hear people still saying that Terri has no will to live and would want to die. Can they not see that Terri has endured neglect and abuse over the span of 15 years and has lived in a minimal care/end of life facility (Hospice) for FIVE years and still has the strength to stave off death by starvation and dehydration for 13 days. How can you see that level of sheer determination to live and say she wants to die?
I am willing to look past the obvious political pandering and posturing that Jesse Jackson is engaging in, only to welcome him and anyone who wants to support life. I listened to Jackson today. ( I suffered so you didn't have to) Jackson said earlier Tuesday, "I feel hurt personally by this. We should do all we can to sustain life. In this case, she is dying on our control. You're taking away food and water and not even giving her an ice cube for her parched lips. . . . We cannot be that callous about human life." schiavo>jesse jackson>schiavo>jesse jackson>schiavo>jesse jackson>schiavo>
I really think he came by this new position the same way many have. He first saw it as the media represented it, a right to die case involving a woman in a Persistent vegetative state. Then, better late than never, he saw that Terri is responsive and does have a will to live. He also, came to the realization that food and water does not constitute ' Artificial Life Support'. It is nothing less than a crime against humanity. I'm glad to see the Rev. Jackson has finally picked up on that.jackson>schiavo>jessejackson>schiavo>

I must say, however, that this has to be the first time I have agreed with the Democrat from Illinois, and I am hopeful it will be the last!
You have to admit, it's hard to disagree with anyone who says things like this, "Law without mercy is cruel and crude. Law must be informed by mercy to arrive at justice.....This is about civil rights!" It's just too bad he doesn't feel the same about the unborn human child.schiavo>jesse jackson>schiavo>jesse jackson>

Is it too late for Terri? Do you think she can live long enough to see her case taken up by the Senate again? Or are you ( as am I ) resigned to the fact that she is too far gone and the dehydration likely damaged her brain beyond repair? Her family has finally accepted it, I think it's time we all offer a prayer and begin the mourning process. I am a forever optimist, but I honestly have no hope left at this point..........only sadness and shame.
THANKS Anyway, Rev. Jackson
